Andrew I. Elkwood, M.D., received his medical degree from
Albany Medical College of Union University. He completed
a residency in general surgery at the New York University
Medical Center, where he later completed a training program
in plastic and reconstructive surgery. Board certified by
the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic
Surgery, he has published numerous articles and has given
several lectures to the medical community. Among his special
honors and achievements, Dr. Elkwood is an associate member
of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American
Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Stephen A. Chidyllo, M.D., DDS, FACS, received his medical
degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. At the
State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dentistry,
he received a doctorate of dental surgery. After completing
a residency in general surgery at the New York Infirmary-Beekman
Downtown Hospital, he went on to complete a residency in
plastic and reconstructive surgery at Chicago/Cook County
Hospitals. He completed a plastic surgery fellowship in the
fields of cranio-maxillofacial surgery and reconstructive
and cosmetic facial surgery at the Eastern Virginia Graduate
School of Medicine.
An attending surgeon at Monmouth, Dr. Chidyllo was appointed
as clinical associate Professor of surgery at Drexel University
College of Medicine. He has published multiple articles in
the fields of plastic surgery, surgery and dentistry. Dr.
Chidyllo has made many presentations in the field of plastic
surgery both nationally and regionally, with expertise in
the field of cosmetic and reconstructive facial surgery.
A diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and
a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, his professional
affiliations include the American Society of Plastic Surgeons,
the American Society for Aesthetics Plastic Surgery, the
Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American
Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. Chidyllo has served as committee chairman for the craniomaxillofacial
sub-committee of the Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation
and the National Board of Medical Examiners.

Peter T. Hetzler, M.D., FACS, received his medical degree
from the University of Michigan. He completed his residency
in general surgery as the chief resident, and a residency
in plastic reconstructive surgery as the chief resident,
at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center of Pennsylvania State
University. He went on to complete a fellowship in aesthetic
plastic surgery at the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital,
and a fellowship in microsurgery at the York Hospital Trauma
Center.
Currently an attending surgeon at Monmouth, Dr. Hetzler is
board certified in general surgery and plastic and reconstructive
surgery. He has published several articles and has given
multiple presentations to the medical community.
A fellow of the American College of Surgeons, he is a member
of professional medical organizations including the American
Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is the president-elect of
the New Jersey Society of Plastic Surgery, and a member of
the multidisciplinary breast cancer evaluation committee
at the Jacqueline M. Wilentz Comprehensive Breast Center.
Among his special honors and achievements, Dr. Hetzler was
named in the April 1996 New Jersey Magazine article, ‘Top
Doctors in New Jersey.’ Since 1999, he has been named
in the Castle-Connolly Guide, ‘How to Find the Best
New York Metro Area Doctors.’

Dr. Matthew Kaufman is a board certified Plastic Surgeon and a Fellow
of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). His training was completed
at the best training programs in both New York and Los Angeles. He received
his undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton
where he graduated with Honors and was named to the prestigious Phi Beta
Kappa Society. Upon completion, he attended medical school at the State
University of New York at Syracuse graduating in the top 5% of his medical
school class. While there, he received numerous honors including acceptance
into the AOA medical honor society and an endowment scholarship for outstanding
academic performance.
Dr. Matthew Kaufman embarked on his surgical training at one of the
nation's top training programs for Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery
at The Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan. While there, he trained with
world renowned surgeons dedicated to complex Head and Neck Reconstruction.
Upon completion, he continued his training in Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgery at the prestigious UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. He learned
the most advanced and innovative techniques in both cosmetic and reconstructive
surgery, including the state of the art method of breast cancer reconstruction
using the DIEP (perforator) flap, while working with many of the world's
leaders in the field.
Dr. Matthew Kaufman has the rather rare distinction of achieving board
certification in both Plastic Surgery and Otolaryngology- Head and Neck
Surgery. This gives him the added expertise necessary to deal with complex
cosmetic and reconstructive problems of the head, face and neck. He has
special interests in reconstructive surgery for cranial nerve disorders,
skin and head & neck cancer and vascular malformations. He is a Cancer
Reconstruction and Microsurgery Consultant for the Head and Neck Oncology
Group of Central New Jersey based at Saint Peter's University Hospital
in New Brunswick.
Dr. Matthew Kaufman is highly skilled in all cosmetic surgery procedures
of the face and body. These procedures include: facelift, blepharoplasty
(eyelid rejuvenation), nose reshaping (rhinoplasty), ear reshaping (otoplasty),
chin/lip surgery, skin resurfacing, fat grafting, liposuction, breast
augmentation, breast lift/reduction and abdominoplasty. In addition,
he has advanced expertise in many of the latest minimally invasive facelifting
techniques.
Dr. Matthew Kaufman has published numerous articles and book chapters
in the plastic surgery literature and has lectured at both national and
international surgical meetings. He is a lead author of "Aesthetics and
Cosmetic Surgery for Darker Skin Types", the first textbook dedicated
to Cosmetic Surgery for darker racial ethnic groups. Dr. Kaufman has
been featured in Cosmetic Surgery Times for his tissue engineering research
and has been a medical consultant for "Untold Stories of the ER", a
syndicated series on The Learning Channel (TLC). Other media appearances
inlcude: Good Morning America, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Discovery Health,
and Channel 7 Eyewitness News.

Ronald W. Kristan, M.D., FACS, received his medical degree
from New York University. Upon completing a residency in
ophthalmology at Albany Medical Center, he remained there
to complete his subspecialty fellowship in ophthalmic plastic
and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Kristan has been an attending
surgeon at Monmouth since 1985 and is a member of the Day
Stay Task Force. In 1995, he was a part of Monmouth’s
Mission Cataract program, which allowed those unable to access
medical care to have cataract surgery performed.
A diplomate of the Board of Ophthalmology and the American
Board of Eye Surgery, Dr. Kristan is certified in cataract
and implant surgery. He is a member of many professional
medical organizations such as the American Academy of Ophthalmology,
the American College of Eye Surgeons, the American College
of Ocularists, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive
Surgery. A fellow of the American College of Surgeons and
the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgery, he has published several articles and has delivered
numerous presentations to the medical community.
Among his special honors and achievements, Dr. Kristan has
worked on developing laser intracanalicular surgery for lacrimal
obstruction. He performed some of the earliest cases of this
kind in the United States, and is involved with teaching
these surgical techniques nationally and internationally.
Dr. Kristan is a past president of the New Jersey Academy
of Ophthalmology, where he is still an active member.

Anthony S. Lombardi, M.D., P.C., received his medical degree
from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey,
New Jersey Medical School. Upon completing his residency
in general surgery at Monmouth Medical Center, he returned
to New Jersey Medical School to complete a residency in plastic
and reconstructive surgery.
An attending surgeon at Monmouth, Dr. Lombardi is board
certified in general surgery and plastic and reconstructive
surgery. He has been working with the ‘Healing the
Children Foundation’ since 1990, and has delivered
several presentations to the medical community. Dr. Lombardi
is a member of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgeons Residents Affiliate Group. He has been published
in the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Tushar Patel is a New Jersey native. He received his undergraduate
degree from Rutgers University from which he graduated with honors. Upon
completion, Dr. Tushar Patel earned his medical degree from The University
of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey – Robert Wood Johnson
Medical School where he graduated in the top of his class.
Dr. Tushar Patel then completed a full general surgery residency at
Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. He earned the award for academic
excellence during his surgical training. During his training, he completed
a one-year fellowship in the National Institute of Health funded laboratories
in the Department of Surgical Sciences at Robert Wood Johnson Medical
School. His research led to multiple publications as well as presentations
at several national meetings.
Dr. Tushar Patel continued his training in the Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgery fellowship program at The University of Texas – Health
Science Center in Houston at the World-Renowned Texas Medical Center.
There he trained under many internationally recognized leaders in both
cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Tushar Patel has a passion for
and is highly skilled in all aspects of cosmetic surgery, including the
face, neck, breast and body. He uses safe and advanced minimally-invasive
techniques to perform the following procedures: browlift, facelift, rhinoplasty,
blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), neck lift, otoplasty, chin surgery,
lip augmentation, skin resurfacing, breast augmentation/lift/reduction,
tummy tucks (abdominoplasty), thigh/arm lifts, liposuction, as well as
post-massive weight loss body contouring surgery.
In addition to his interest in cosmetic surgery, Dr. Tushar Patel enjoys
performing reconstructive surgery after cancer surgery and traumatic
injuries. While in Houston, he learned some of the most advanced and
pioneering techniques in breast cancer reconstruction while training
at the prestigious MD Anderson Cancer Center. These techniques include
the DIEP (perforator) flap as well as the muscle-sparing TRAM flaps.
Dr. Tushar Patel’s exceptional training in microsurgery also allows
him to perform the most sophisticated reconstructive procedures to treat
facial and extremity deformities.
In addition to serving the needs of his patients, Dr. Tushar Patel takes
great pride in his humanitarian work in underserved communities throughout
the world. He recently traveled to South Asia to perform surgeries on
children with facial deformities to help improve their quality of life.

Dr. Michael Rose received his medical degree from The New
York University School of Medicine. He performed research
throughout his medical school years and published several
papers and book chapters during that time. He also presented
at national and international meetings and received a national
award for his research.
Dr. Michael Rose then completed a five-year general surgery
residency at New York University Medical Center. He was selected
as executive chief resident and won the award for Best Surgical
Educator for that year. During his residency he did a one-year
fellowship in the Plastic Surgery laboratories at New York
University Medical Center. Again, he published widely and
presented at several national meetings.
Dr. Michael Rose completed his training with a Plastic and
Reconstructive Surgery fellowship at Emory University in
Atlanta, Georgia. While training in Atlanta, Dr. Michael
Rose worked with some of the top names in plastic and reconstructive
surgery. While at Emory, Dr. Michael Rose published research
on the safety of cosmetic surgery. Dr. Michael Rose has been
featured nationally and locally on WPIX News, Good Morning
America, ABC News, CBS News, the Discovery Channel, News
12 New Jersey and in the Asbury Park Press.
Dr. Michael Rose enjoys all aspects of plastic surgery,
especially breast surgery and facial plastic surgery. While
in Atlanta, Dr. Michael Rose trained with some of the pioneers
of eyelid and cheeklift surgery, and he brings those techniques
to The Plastic Surgery Center. The most modern and safe techniques
for facelifts, cheeklifts, eyetucks, and browlifts are utilized
by Dr. Michael Rose. He also specializes in breast augmentation,
reduction and lifting, as well as body sculpting procedures
such as tummy tucks, thigh, arm and buttock lifting and liposuction.
Dr. Michael Rose has a special interest in body contouring
after massive weight loss surgery.
In addition to his interest in cosmetic surgery, Dr. Michael
Rose takes great pride and satisfaction in performing reconstructive
surgery after cancer surgery or deforming accidents. A particular
area of expertise for Dr. Michael Rose is nerve decompression
surgery for diabetics with the condition known as peripheral
neuropathy. Dr. Michael Rose is one of only 15 plastic surgeons
in the world who has been trained in this technique.
Dr. Michael Rose is double board-certified by the American
Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Michael Rose is also a Fellow of The American College
of Surgeons (FACS).

Michael D. Rosen, M.D., received his medical degree from
the Drexel University College of Medicine. Upon completing
his residency in general surgery at Monmouth Medical Center
as the chief resident, he went on to complete a residency
in plastic surgery at Tulane University School of Medicine
as the chief resident.
Dr. Rosen is board certified in plastic and reconstructive
surgery, and has made several presentations to the medical
community. Currently, he serves as the chief of the department
of plastic and reconstructive surgery at Monmouth.

John Taylor, M.D., FACS, FICS, received his medical degree
from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He
went on to complete both his residency in general surgery,
and his residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at
Montefiore Medical Center.
Dr. Taylor has been an attending surgeon at Monmouth since
2002 and is board certified in surgery and plastic surgery.
He specializes in general plastic, reconstructive and hand
surgery, including microsurgery. A fellow of the American
College of Surgeons and the International College of Surgeons,
he served as a member of the executive council of the New
Jersey Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Rudolf C. Thompson, M.D., received his medical degree from
Tulane University School of Medicine. After completing a
residency in general surgery at Saint Barnabas Medical Center,
he went on to complete a residency in plastic surgery at
the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
Board certified in general surgery and plastic surgery,
Dr. Thompson is an attending surgeon at Monmouth. A member
of the American College of Surgeons Candidate Group, he has
published several articles and has delivered multiple presentations
to the medical community.
