Application Requirements

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATION FOR RESIDENCY:

The General Surgery Residency Program at Monmouth Medical Center offers three (3) categorical and five (5) non-designated preliminary positions. Our program participates fully with ERAS and the NRMP.

Our application deadline is November 15.

  • We do not accept applications outside of ERAS.
  • A minimum score of 200 on USMLE Step I and II (first attempt).
  • Applicants must have graduated from medical school no earlier than 2005.
  • Foreign medical school graduates must have at least one year of US clinical hospital experience and present a valid ECFMG certificate prior to the offer of a contract.
  • Applicants must be a US citizen or a permanent resident.
  • Applicants from osteopathic medical schools must pass USMLE examinations in addition to the COMLEX.
  • We do not offer externships.

  • Personal Statement
  • Photograph
  • Medical School Transcript
  • Dean’s Letter
  • USMLE Scores
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation (at least two from surgeons)
