Patients of the bariatric program benefit from the collaboration
among our team of highly-trained specialists led by Frank Borao,
MD, FACS -- one of the nation’s leading laparoscopic surgeons
who is fellowship trained in advanced laparoscopic surgery.
The decision to have weight loss surgery is
an important one. Equally important is choosing
a bariatric surgery program where surgeons and
medial professionals are trained in the complexities
of bariatric surgery and whose outcomes and results
speak for themselves.
According to the American Society for Bariatric
Surgery (ASBS) Center of Excellence criteria,
the surgeons must be certified by the American
Board of Surgery, spend at least 51 percent of
their time in the field, and perform more than
50 bariatric surgical cases per year. The team
at the bariatric surgery program at Monmouth
Medical Center not only meets these criteria,
but is one of the top bariatric surgery teams
in New Jersey.
Together, the multidisciplinary team determines
a comprehensive, personalized treatment plan
that enables Monmouth Medical Center to bring
about the best possible outcome. The team members
are involved in the patient's experience from
screening through follow-up.
The bariatric multidisciplinary consists of:
- Board-certified laparoscopic
surgeon fellow ship trained in general and
bariatric surgery
- Board certified vascular surgeon
- Program Director
- Registered Nurses
- Registered Dietitian
- Psychologist
