The Most in Living...
Living is truly at its best in the region that Monmouth
Medical Center, situated one block from the Atlantic ocean, calls
home. Situated along the Jersey shore – a
short traveling distance from New York City and Philadelphia – this
thriving area bursts with plenty of places to see and things to
do.
Undoubtedly, the coast is the region’s biggest attraction.
Miles of beaches stretch along the Atlantic Ocean. There
are the unspoiled natural preserves at the Gateway National Recreation
Area at Sandy Hook, and the 33-acre Seven Presidents Oceanfront
Park in Long Branch.
And the region boasts a whole lot more. Acres of farmland straddle
the more rural roads, which are colored by produce stands overflowing
with just-harvested fruits and vegetables.
A mixture of quaint stores, cafes and galleries line historic
shopping districts that haven’t lost their small-town charm.
Outdoors lovers can take advantage of the surrounding communities
50,000 acres of parkland, conservation areas and golf courses. And
there are 19,000 acres devoted to equine activities at the many
horse farms that spread over the region.
The area is steeped in history – from the famous site
of the Battle of Monmouth to the many museums and 18th century
churches that have preserved pieces of the past. On a
cultural note, centers for the performing and visual arts are
a vibrant part of the suburban scene.
And there’s no shortage of sporting events. To
the north is the Meadowlands sports and entertainment complex,
home to the New York Giants and Jets football teams, New Jersey
Devils hockey team and the New Jersey Nets basketball team.
Across the Hudson River, there’s New York City with its
wealth of theaters, museums and cultural events, like performances
by the Metropolitan Opera and the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. Board
a NJ Transit train across from the hospital and be in the Big
Apple in an hour and a half.
Housing options run the gamut in style, location and affordability – from
apartments and condominiums to single-family homes and sprawling
estates. Minutes from the hospital, oceanfront efficiency
apartments with decks overlook the Long Branch beach. There
are also two and three bedroom garden apartments and townhouses
available nearby.
The area boasts a strong educational network of both private
and public schools. It is also home to Monmouth University,
which offers four year programs in higher education, and Brookdale
Community College, a two year institution.
