Our multidisciplinary team comprising general and pediatric surgeons, gastroenterologists, a psychologist, registered dietitians and nurses have the combined expertise and experience to diagnose and treat the most complex esophageal and gastric conditions. The Center for Minimally Invasive Esophageal and Gastric Surgery’s high surgical and endoscopic volume is associated with consistently superior patient outcomes.
The director of the center, board-certified surgeons Frank Borao, M.D., and Steven Binenbaum, M.D., are among just a handful of surgeons in New Jersey to complete fellowship training in advanced laparoscopic surgery. Additionally, the center’s interventional gastroenterologists have extensive experience with endoscopic procedures.
When surgery or endoscopy is indicated, treatment options are carefully determined by the mature judgment of experienced, board-certified surgeons and gastroenterologists. Monmouth’s Center for Minimally Invasive Esophageal and Gastric Surgery offers physicians who rank among the nation’s most experienced advanced laparoscopic practitioners — and this experience allows them to tailor the procedure to the patient rather than the patient to the procedure. Leading this multidisciplinary team is Dr. Borao, the director of laparoscopy for Monmouth Medical Center, who has published some of the pioneering techniques of laparoscopic gastric bypass.
