Dr. Borao, who
trained at The Institute for Minimally
Invasive Surgery - New York Medical
College in the performance of advanced
laparoscopic surgery, specializes
in laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgery.
These procedures include Roux-en-Y
gastric bypass (weight loss surgery),
colon and small bowel resection, solid
organ removal (kidney, adrenal, spleen
and pancreas), gallbladder removal,
gastroesophageal reflux, paraesophageal,
inguinal/ventral hernia repair, and
tumor staging. He is one of a few
surgeons in New Jersey fellowship
trained in advanced laparoscopic surgery.
A resident of Long
Branch who served as chief surgical
resident at Monmouth, Dr. Borao has
published several papers, including
a textbook chapter, on the subject
of laparoscopic surgery for morbid
obesity. Dr. Borao is an Assistant
Professor of Surgery at MCP-Hahnemann
School of Medicine. He trains surgical
residents in advanced laparoscopic
and general surgery.
Dr. Borao is one
of few surgeons in central New Jersey
qualified to perform advanced laparoscopic
procedures. He is a board certified
surgeon and a Fellow of the American
College of Surgeons. Professional
affiliations also include the Society
of American Gastrointestional Endoscopic
Surgeons (SAGES) and the American
Society for Bariatric Surgery (ASBS)
