Michael Goldfarb, M.D., FACS

Monmouth Medical Center
Michael Goldfarb, M.D., FACS, received his undergraduate degree from Hobart College, Geneva, NY, and his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center, New York.
Before taking on the role of Chairman of Surgery at Monmouth, Dr. Goldfarb was the associate program director for the surgical residency program at Monmouth and Newark Beth Israel medical centers, and he currently serves as Medical Director of Monmouth's Cranmer Ambulatory Surgery Center and Surgical Coordinator of the Jacqueline M. Wilentz Comprehensive Breast Center at Monmouth. An attending surgeon at Monmouth Medical Center since 1974, he is an Associate Professor of Surgery at Monmouth's teaching affiliate, MCP o Hahnemann University School of Medicine, Philadelphia.
He is a Founding Member of the American Trauma Society and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Royal Society of Medicine. He is a member of the New Jersey Society of Surgeons, the Society of Breast Surgeons, and the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, and he serves on the Board of Trustees for Monmouth Medical Center.
Among his special honors and achievements, Dr. Goldfarb received the U.S. Army Commendation Medal for the development of Kevlar soft body armor and the creation of a "bulletproof" definition for the U.S. Bureau of Standards. In 1975, Dr. Goldfarb led the development of the first hospital-based ambulatory surgicenter in New Jersey at Monmouth Medical Center and in 1990 at Monmouth he led the first surgical team in the state to perform laparoscopic cholecystectomy. He also was the principal investigator for Monmouth's clinical research study of sentinel lymph node biopsy for breast cancer.
Most recently, Dr. Goldfarb was named among the best breast cancer surgeons in the country by Red Book magazine, and was named one of the top surgeons in the New York metropolitan region by New York magazine's annual listing of top doctors.
Frank J. Borao, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Medical Director
The Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery at Monmouth Medical Center
Dr. Borao, who trained at The Institute for Minimally Invasive Surgery - New York Medical College in the performance of advanced laparoscopic surgery, specializes in laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgery. These procedures include Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (weight loss surgery), colon and small bowel resection, solid organ removal (kidney, adrenal, spleen and pancreas), gallbladder removal, gastroesophageal reflux, paraesophageal hernia, inguinal/ventral hernia repair, and tumor staging. He is one of a few surgeons in New Jersey fellowship trained in advanced laparoscopic surgery.
A resident of Long Branch who served as chief surgical resident at Monmouth, Dr. Borao has published several papers, including a textbook chapter, on the subject of laparoscopic surgery for morbid obesity. Dr. Borao is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at MCP-Hahnemann School of Medicine. He trains surgical residents in advanced laparoscopic and general surgery.
Dr. Borao was the first surgeon in central New Jersey to perform advanced laparoscopic procedures after completion of his fellowship. He is a board certified surgeon and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Professional affiliations also include the Society of American Gastrointestional Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and the American Society for Bariatric Surgery (ASBS).
Roy M. Dressner, D.O
Colorectal Surgeon

Roy M. Dressner completed his general surgical training at Monmouth Medical Center in 1997, where he was honored with the John C. Borden Memorial Surgical Award for Proficiency and Outstanding Service in the Field of Surgery. He then completed a fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at St. Lukes- Roosevelt Hospital, New York.
A fellow of the American College of Surgeons as well as the American College of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, Dr Dressner’s professional affiliations include American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons as well as the New York and New Jersey Societies of Colon And Rectal Surgeons.
With a special expertise in the minimally invasive surgical treatment of colon-rectal cancers, diverticular disease and inflammatory bowel disease, Dr Dressner performs advanced laparoscopic procedures for these and other gastro-intestinal disorders. He is also the medical director for the Center of Defecatory Disorders providing diagnostic and treatment modalities (both medical and surgical) for fecal incontinence.
Dr Dressner has also been selected as one of “America’s Top Physicians” (Consumer Research Council) for three consecutive years. (2003-2004; 2004-2005 and 2005-2006.) and one of “America’s Top Surgeons” (Consumer Research Council) for 2007.
Michael L. Arvanitis, M.D., FACS, FASCRS

Director of the Patricia Burton High Risk Colorectal Cancer Program
Monmouth Medical CenterMichael L. Arvanitis, M.D., FACS, received his medical degree from Hahnemann Medical University, Philadelphia. He completed his residency in general surgery at St. Vincents Hospital, New York City, and completed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, Ohio.
An attending colorectal surgeon at Monmouth Medical Center since 1988, Dr. Arvanitis has particular interest and expertise in laparoscopic surgical treatment of Colon and Rectal Cancer, Ulcerative Colitis, Crohns disease and diverticulitis. He served as Assistant Program Director of Surgery from 1991 to 1998, and currently serves as the Director of the Patricia Burton High Risk Colorectal Cancer Program at Monmouth focusing on the treatment and prevention of colorectal cancer.A clinical assistant professor of surgery at Monmouths teaching affiliate, Hahnemann University School of Medicine, he has published numerous articles within the field of colon and rectal surgery and has resented several lectures and led seminars at both national and international medical conferences.
A fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, he served as President of the New Jersey Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons from 1994 to 1996 and is a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery.
Among his special honors and achievements, Dr. Arvanitis was honored as both an educator and a practicing surgeon and was named one of New Jerseys Top Doctors in New Jersey Monthly Magazine.
Ernest M. Ginalis, M.D., FACS
General Surgeon
Monmouth Medical CenterErnest M. Ginalis, M.D., FACS, earned his medical degree from the Aristotelion University, Greece, and completed his residency in general surgery at Monmouth Medical Center.
An attending surgeon at Monmouth Medical Center since 1995, Dr. Ginalis has special expertise in minimally invasive surgery in the treatment of diseases of the intestines, spleen and gallbladder, as well as hernias.
Dr. Ginalis is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is a member of the Society of the Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery.
Among his specials honors and achievements, Dr. Ginalis, who is actively involved in teaching, received the chief residents award for excellence in clinical teaching at Monmouth Medical Center one of New Jerseys largest teaching hospitals.
Glenn S. Parker, M.D., FACS, FASCRS

Monmouth Medical CenterGlenn S. Parker, M.D., FACS, received his medical degree from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He completed his residency in general surgery at the SUNY-Kings County Medical Center and completed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at University of Connecticut School of Medicine, St. Francis Medical Center.
Board-certified in colorectal surgery, Dr. Parker has special expertise in advanced laparoscopy and open surgery for colonic and small intestinal disorders including diverticular disease, inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal carcinoma. He also specializes in the treatment of hemorrhoids, prolapse, anal-rectal disorders/physiology ad colonoscopy. He currently serves as treasurer of the medical staff at Monmouth Medical Center and as a clinical assistant professor of Surgery at Drexel University School of Medicine and University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine.
Among his special honors and achievements, Dr. Parker was recently named in Consumers Guide to Top Doctors 2002 Edition - for doctors most highly recommended by other doctors - for colorectal and general surgeons.
Saad A Saad, M.D., FACS, FAAP
Chief Pediatric Surgery
Monmouth Medical CenterSaad A. Saad, M.D., FACS, earned his medical degree from the University of Cairo, and completed his residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He completed a fellowship in pediatric surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, where he trained with the nations leading pediatric surgeon, Biemann Otherson, M.D.
With more than 20 years experience in general, endoscopic and laparoscopic surgery for children, Dr. Saad, who is board certified in general and pediatric surgery, is the only pediatric surgeon serving Monmouth and Ocean counties and is just one of less than 500 such specialists in the country. Dr. Saads has extensive experience in laparoscopic and thoracoscopic procedures for infants and children, including gallbladder, hernia, spleen removal, gastro-esophageal reflux and diagnostic procedures.
A specialist in complex thoratic, or chest, surgery of children, Dr. Saad works with Frank Borao, M.D., medical director of the Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery at Monmouth Medical Center, to provide various laparoscopic and thoracosopic procedures in infants and children.
Dr. Saad is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Pediatric Surgical Association.Among his special honors and achievements, Dr. Saad is well known locally and nationally for his surgical skills, innovation of new techniques and in teaching. He has received numerous awards including the prestigious Golden Apple Teaching Award from Monmouths teaching affiliate Drexel University College of Medicine, Philadelphia.
