More than 37 million Americans suffer from chronic sinus and nasal
conditions such as deviated nasal septum and nasal polyps, as well
as recurrent infections. Surgery has been one of the most common
ways to treat these chronic sinus conditions.
At Monmouth Medical Center, surgeons are treating
sinus disease with the new LandmarX Image Guidance
System, which lets them get a closer "look" at
the sinuses and obtain a safer, better result
assisted by this 3-D visualization capability.
The surgeons are able to guide their instruments
to the exact area within the fragile bones of
the face. This allows the surgeon to be more
precise in clearing tissue and restoring proper
drainage to relieve the painful symptoms of chronic
sinus condition. It reduces the possible risk
of complications and the need for additional
surgery, and patients recover much more quickly
and comfortably.
Monmouth Medical Center was the first hospital
in Monmouth and Ocean counties — and is
among only a handful in New Jersey — to
introduce this LandmarX Image Guidance System.
It provides the latest in computer-assisted mapping
technology for sinus surgery. This highly precise
tool is revolutionizing the way sinus surgery
is performed. And Monmouth's team of highly qualified
ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeons are the most
qualified specialists to perform this surgery.
