Saad A. Saad, M.D., FACS, FAAP,
received his medical degree from Cairo University Medical
School and was the chief resident in general surgery at
UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School. He was a resident in
pediatric surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina,
and completed a program in general surgery at Harvard
Medical School.
An attending pediatric surgeon at Monmouth
since 1989, Dr. Saad is board certified in both general
surgery and pediatric surgery. He has served as the Medical
Center’s chief in the division of pediatric surgery
for the past five years. Dr. Saad has special expertise
in newborn surgery, pediatric thoracic surgery, bronchoscopy,
tracheal reconstruction surgery, esophagoscopy and laparoscopy.
He has served as a clinical associate professor of pediatric
surgery at the Drexel University College of Medicine.
Dr. Saad is a member of numerous medical
committees locally, nationally and internationally. From
2000-2001 he served as a member of the executive committee
at Monmouth. He has published many papers and abstracts
and has presented exhibits on pediatric surgery. Among
his special honors and achievements, Dr. Saad has been
credited for developing new techniques and inventions
for various surgical procedures. In 1997, he was the recipient
of the ‘Golden Apple Teacher of the Year Award’
by Monmouth’s Department of Surgery.
A fellow of the American College of
Surgeons, the American Academy of Pediatric Surgical Section,
and the American Pediatric Surgical Association, Dr. Saad
served as vice president of the New Jersey Pediatric Surgical
Association, L.L.P. from 1997-1999.

Michael
H. Fleisher, M.D.
Pediatric Urology
Monmouth Medical Center
Michael H. Fleisher, M.D., received his medical degree
from SUNY-Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine.
He completed his residency in general surgery at the Yale-New
Haven Hospital and then returned to SUNY-Downstate Medical
Center to complete a residency in urology. He was a clinical
fellow in renal transplant at the Montefiore Hospital
and Medical Center, and a clinical fellow in pediatric
urology at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.
Board certified in urology, Dr. Fleisher has been an attending
surgeon at Monmouth for the past sixteen years. A member
of numerous professional medical organizations including
the Society for Pediatric Urology, and the Academy of
Medicine of New Jersey, Dr. Fleisher has published articles
in the field of urology.
A fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American
Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. Fleisher was honored with the
Sergio Award in 1999 for the ‘Healing the Children’
program.

Thomas
S. Vates III, M.D.
Pediatric Urology
Monmouth Medical Center
Thomas S. Vates III, M.D., received
his medical degree from Georgetown University School of
Medicine and completed his residency in general surgery
at both UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and the
Cleveland Clinic Foundation. After completing his residency
in urology at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School,
he went on to complete a fellowship in pediatric urology
at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan.
A fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and
the American Academy of Pediatrcs, Dr. Vates has published
many original articles and abstracts in his field. He
is a member of the Sigma Xi society and the Society of
Fetal Urology. Among his special honors and achievements,
he received the Pfizer Scholars in Urology Award in 1996,
and received second place honors at the 1997 clinical
research competition sponsored by the section of Urology
of the American Academy of Pediatrics. In 2003 he was
honored with the Sergio Award from Healing the Children
Midlantic.

Michael
Andrew Tavill, M.D.
Otolaryngology
Monmouth Medical Center
Michael Andrew Tavill, M.D., received his medical degree
from the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine
and completed his residency as the chief resident in otorhinolaryngology
at the Hospitals of the University of Pennsylvania. He
completed a fellowship at the Children’s Hospital
of Philadelphia in the division of pediatric otolaryngology.
Board certified in otolaryngology, Dr. Tavill has published
articles and abstracts in the field of otolaryngology
and has made many local and national presentations. An
attending surgeon at Monmouth Medical Center since 1997,
Dr. Tavill is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor
Society and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
His affiliations include the Society of Ear, Nose, and
Throat Advances in Children and the American Academy of
Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery.
